Webull is bringing cryptocurrency trading to its Canadian platform, giving retail investors access to digital assets alongside stocks, ETFs and options without having to leave the brokerage app.
Webull Brings Crypto Trading To Canadian Investors
The Canadian service is powered by Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform, which will provide the trading and custody infrastructure behind the offering.
Coinbase will also give Webull access to its liquidity and technology, while Webull remains responsible for the customer-facing experience.
Webull’s Canadian website currently lists 10 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ether and Solana, with additional assets also available.
The service supports 24-hour crypto trading, allowing customers to manage digital assets through the same platform they already use for traditional investments.
Coinbase Provides The Infrastructure Behind The Service
Rather than developing its own crypto trading and custody system, Webull is using infrastructure already provided by Coinbase.
The two companies have previously worked together on crypto services in the US, Australia and Brazil, making Canada the fourth market where their partnership supports digital asset trading.
Coinbase will handle the infrastructure and custody side of the service, while Webull controls the investment interface used by Canadian customers.
The arrangement allows Webull to add crypto without requiring customers to use a separate exchange or wallet platform.
Why Is Webull Expanding Crypto In Canada?
Webull says demand for broader investment choices is growing among Canadian retail investors, with cryptocurrency becoming a larger part of that mix.
Michael Constantino, CEO of Webull Canada, said,
“Canadian investors expect access to a growing range of asset classes, and crypto has become an increasingly important part of that mix.”
He added,
“Our partnership with Coinbase provides the infrastructure needed to deliver this offering with the scale and reliability our clients expect.”
Webull also pointed to research from the Ontario Securities Commission indicating that digital asset ownership in Canada has risen to 25% this year, compared with 10% in 2023.
Crypto Expansion Follows Webull’s Canadian Growth
Webull entered Canada in 2024, initially giving customers access to Canadian and US-listed stocks.
Its Canadian platform now includes stocks, exchange-traded funds, options and cryptocurrencies, broadening the range of assets available through a single account.
The company says it has more than 27 million registered users globally.
Webull had already announced plans for Canadian crypto trading in June after receiving regulatory approval, with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano and Litecoin among the assets planned for the service.
The company expected the rollout to begin with selected customers through beta access before becoming available to more users.
Canada Is Building A Clearer Crypto Framework
The launch comes as Canadian authorities work towards clearer rules for the digital asset sector.
Canada does not yet have comprehensive rules covering fiat-backed stablecoins, but the Stablecoin Act introduced after the 2025 federal budget would establish requirements for domestic and foreign stablecoin issuers.
For Webull, the expanding regulatory framework provides a backdrop for adding cryptocurrency to a brokerage platform that already serves Canadian retail investors across traditional asset classes.
