Strategy has returned to the Bitcoin market after more than two months without a fresh purchase, with Michael Saylor confirming the company has added 4,603 BTC worth about $370 million.
Strategy Returns To Bitcoin Buying With $370 Million Purchase
The latest purchase puts Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings at 845,050 BTC, making the company one of the largest corporate holders of the cryptocurrency.
The coins were acquired between 24 August and 30 August 2026 at an average price of about $80,318 per Bitcoin, according to the company’s 31 August filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Saylor had already hinted that buying was returning.
On Sunday, he posted Strategy’s Bitcoin accumulation chart on X, using orange circles to show the company’s purchases and writing,
“We’re ₿ack”.
The purchase comes after Strategy spent much of the summer building up its cash reserves, repurchasing preferred shares and managing its balance sheet rather than adding Bitcoin.
Strategy Had Been Selling And Building Cash
Strategy’s latest purchase is notable because the company had not reported a new Bitcoin acquisition since late June.
After buying 520 BTC in the week of 22 June, the company reduced its Bitcoin position several times, selling a combined 6,916 BTC through transactions reported around the end of June, early July and August.
At one point, Strategy held 847,363 BTC following its June purchase.
Even with the latest 4,603 BTC addition, its holdings remain below that earlier level, showing that the company has resumed buying without returning to the steady accumulation seen during previous periods.
A Stronger Balance Sheet Clears The Way For Bitcoin
The pause gave Strategy more room to strengthen its financial position.
During the period between 29 June and 23 August, the company raised about $4.56 billion through the sale of roughly 44.3 million MSTR shares and repurchased more than $500 million of STRC preferred shares.
Its US dollar reserves also grew from about $2.55 billion to $5.1 billion, while the company established a separate $1.59 billion flexible cash pool.
Following the latest moves, Strategy reported $6.71 billion in US dollar assets and net leverage of 0%.
Saylor also said the company’s cash balance had increased by $29 million alongside the latest Bitcoin purchase, while Strategy repurchased $152 million worth of STRC preferred stock.
Strategy Now Holds 845,050 Bitcoin
Strategy has spent about $63.73 billion in total to acquire its Bitcoin holdings, giving the company an average purchase price of roughly $75,412 per BTC across its entire position.

The latest purchase therefore comes at a price above Strategy’s overall average cost, but the company’s zero net leverage gives it more financial flexibility to continue buying without adding immediate debt pressure.
The key question now is whether the 4,603 BTC purchase is a one-off return to the market or the beginning of another period of aggressive accumulation.
For Bitcoin investors, further purchases from Strategy could provide another source of demand, while shareholders will also be watching how the company balances Bitcoin purchases with its preferred-stock repurchases and growing cash reserves.
