Is Memecoin going viral again? Robinhood Chain needn't get excited.

Who could have predicted this situation?

Robinhood Chain officially launched on July 1st, with its core positioning being tokenized stocks, real-world assets (RWA), smart brokerage trading, and compliant financial products. However, the most popular application scenario on this public chain is Meme coin.

Behind this phenomenon is the overall recovery of on-chain user activity, driven primarily by the astonishing explosion of the social trading sector. Fomo, a leading social trading platform, supports Apple Pay deposits, features a trading leaderboard, and is compatible with multiple blockchain ecosystems. It recently completed a $75 million Series B funding round, valuing the platform at $550 million post-investment. The platform's user data continues to break historical records. The leading cryptocurrency in this round of price increases is **$ANSEM**. This token originated on the shturl.c platform and is named after Ansem (@blknoiz06), a well-known opinion leader on crypto Twitter. While he did not issue the token, he actively promoted it and actively built momentum for it. In just a few days, the coin's market capitalization soared from zero to $400 million; at the time of writing, its market capitalization has fallen back to around $300 million. It's worth noting that none of the Meme coins launched since 2026 have yet surpassed a market capitalization of $1 billion. At the launch of the Robinhood Chain public blockchain, market discussion focused entirely on tokenized stocks and other relatively orthodox financial derivatives. However, on Tuesday evening, traders discovered that Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev had followed CASHCAT's X account—CASHCAT being one of the leading Meme coins on the newly launched Robinhood Chain. The market viewed this move as a strong positive for the Meme coin sector, and many traders rushed to transfer assets across chains to Robinhood Chain, betting heavily on this token. The CEO's statement ignited a frenzy. Following this, Tenef personally tweeted about the market performance of Meme coin on his new public chain, directly causing a surge in activity on Robinhood Chain. The crypto Twitter community was abuzz, with comments flooding the screen saying "The bull market is finally back." The surge in trading volume on the Robinhood Chain decentralized exchange (DEX) directly reflects the changing market sentiment. After its quiet launch on July 1st, the average daily trading volume remained stable between $35 million and $70 million in its first week. On July 8th, catalyzed by the CASHCAT rally, the single-day trading volume surged nearly tenfold, exceeding $560 million. On Thursday afternoon, the Fomo platform announced its integration with Robinhood Chain, a move that indirectly confirms the strong demand for the public chain from retail investors. Galaxy Core Viewpoint: The recovery in sentiment within the underlying trading community of the crypto sphere is indeed supported by solid evidence. First, let's look at the truly new changes in this market: crypto deposits and trading infrastructure have reached their best levels ever. Fomo has opened up one-click deposit channels through Apple Pay and displays cryptocurrencies in a social news feed format, virtually eliminating the operational barrier from "seeing the cryptocurrency" to "buying and holding." The platform has also opened perpetual contract trading to non-US users, further expanding its user reach. However, at the same time, a familiar sense of historical repetition is palpable. The nature of the funds flowing into the Meme coin market has never changed: pure speculation, narrative-driven, only chasing the fastest-rising targets in the short term. Ryan Watkins, co-founder of Syncracy Capital, bluntly stated that the market shouldn't be overly optimistic about this kind of speculative frenzy. He questioned what's so exciting about retail speculators repeatedly participating in a zero-sum game; and stated that Robinhood Chain doesn't need to replicate the Memecoin rally led by Solana in 2024. This criticism is not without merit. Robinhood, with its massive user base, launched a public chain, yet made Memecoin the core of its traffic, which directly reflects the market's most genuine demand for new blockchains. Therefore, whether the rally can be sustained is the core issue worth exploring in this event. Memecoin rallies are inherently short-term, impulsive rallies, which is the market consensus benchmark. The highest weekly trading volume of $ANSEM on the Fomo platform was almost double the platform's previous highest weekly record in 2026. In the crypto industry, traffic is the easiest resource to acquire but also the hardest to retain. The truly crucial point to observe is not whether these Meme coins can maintain their market capitalization, but rather whether the underlying infrastructure carrying this speculative traffic can retain the new users attracted by Meme coins after the market downturn. Currently, Solana is the only exception that has successfully retained this type of traffic in the long term. Speculation has always been the most effective channel for attracting new users in the crypto industry, but the long-standing challenge has been how to retain on-chain users and guide them to participate in applications with greater long-term value. If the new trading infrastructure can convert a small portion of the traffic brought by Meme coins into long-term active wallets or real-world asset (RWA) trading users, this cycle will be drastically different from the past; if not, the so-called "on-chain activity recovery" is essentially just "crypto casinos completing hardware upgrades." The trading infrastructure continues to iterate and optimize, but users' speculative behavior patterns remain unchanged. Whether this cycle can break this cycle is the only key question.
