Shiba Inu founder deletes social media posts, quits community

Shiba Inu (SHIB) anonymous founder 'Ryoshi' left the community this week after deleting all of his tweets and blog posts.

Like Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto, Ryoshi's identity has remained unknown since the project's launch in August 2020. Additionally, they have taken a hands-off approach to the memecoin like DOGE founders Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer.

Lead developers such as "Shytoshi Kusama" said the project will continue to "realize Ryoshi's vision and plans for this grand experiment" to build a decentralized memecoin ecosystem.

Ryoshi has hinted on multiple occasions that he will eventually leave, as he often downplays his importance and role in Shiba Inu. In a since-deleted Medium post, the founder reportedly said:

"I've said from the beginning that I'm a nobody, that I'm not important. Even if I succeed in unveiling my 'identity', it won't impress people. I'm just a nobody typing on a keyboard, I'm Replaceable. I am Ryoshi."

Currently, Ryoshi's Twitter account is still up and running, but all activity has been cleared, and there are still two blog posts saying goodbye to ShibArmy on Medium. However, some members said the posts may have come from a scammer who created a new account under Ryoshi's name.

The idea seems plausible, as reports previously linked to Ryoshi's blog now show "users deactivating or deleting their accounts," despite another account using the same name and avatar.

The first post reads, "I'm not important, one day I'll just walk away quietly," while the second adds, "Every Shibarmy is a Ryoshi. It doesn't represent someone, But the glory of Token Shibarmy! End."

On May 31, Shytoshi Kusama posted a blog post on Medium saying goodbye to Ryoshi and reiterating the founder’s vision for the project moving forward:

"Ryoshi's ethos of maintaining anonymity and having no opinion on Shib's direction makes our mythology even more mysterious and impressive. We started from nothing, never paid an exchange to list, and revolutionized it through exponential growth' meme' token."

Notably, the news did not negatively impact the price of SHIB, which is up 3.1% over the past 24 hours to around $0.00001209.

While the asset is down 86% from its all-time high of $0.00008616 at the end of October 2021, SHIB is still up 54% overall compared to 12 months ago, something that hasn't happened for many major assets.
