Cryptocurrency-friendly U.S. theater chain AMC Theaters has updated its mobile app service to accept Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inucoin (SHIB), and other cryptocurrencies as payment methods across the United States.
AMC Theaters will begin accepting encrypted payments on November 12, 2022, and users can use BTC, ETH, BCH and LTC to purchase movie tickets online.
On January 6, 2022, Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Theaters, promised users on Twitter that two memecoins, DOGE and SHIB, would be supported in March. A little late, but Aron's team delivered on their promise.
As promised, AMC US Theaters’ mobile app now accepts DOGE, SHIB, and other cryptocurrencies for online payments — thanks to Bitpay. There's also Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Paypal. To use these types of payments, you first need to update our app to the latest version.

In a statement, Aron revealed that AMC Theaters’ iOS and Android mobile apps can accept crypto payments through integration with bitcoin payment service provider BitPay.
However, the company has yet to announce other newly supported cryptocurrencies. To use this feature, the company recommends users in the US download the latest version of the mobile app.
Singapore-based cross-border payments company Nium has partnered with BitPay to release an API-based solution that allows businesses to start accepting payments in cryptocurrencies — starting with BTC and ETH.
As previously reported by Cointelegraph, crypto payments via BitPay are converted and sent to merchants’ accounts in U.S. dollars or other fiat currencies the next business day.
