The Bank of England is seeking a proof of concept for a sample central bank digital currency (CBDC) wallet and will be accepting applications until December 23. The bank stated that while it will not develop user wallets itself, in addition to supporting core CBDC functions through its ledger and API, it can also develop payment scheme rules and user experience guidelines for private sector wallet providers. Key deliverables include wallet mobile apps for Android and iOS, wallet website, sample merchant website, and backend servers.
