Bitcoin and Ethereum Options Expiry Highlights Market Optimism

According to PANews, on August 15, Greeks.live reported the expiration of 39,000 Bitcoin (BTC) options with a maximum pain point of $118,000 and a nominal value of $4.6 billion. Additionally, 280,000 Ethereum (ETH) options expired, with a maximum pain point of $4,000 and a nominal value of $1.3 billion. The total value of options expiring this cycle is nearly $6 billion, accounting for 9% of the current total open interest. Both BTC and ETH prices have reached all-time highs, reflecting extreme optimism in the market. Implied volatility data indicates that BTC's short-term implied volatility remains below 35%, while ETH's main-term implied volatility is as high as 70%, aligning with expected potential fluctuations. The options market has recently shown significant divergence, with frequent large-scale transactions and substantial activity in both bullish and bearish trades.
