Game publisher Atari has launched its classic arcade game Breakout on the Base chain. In the game, players use rackets and balls to break through brick walls.
As part of Base's "OnChain Summer", players can compete with others for the top spot on the Atari Breakout leaderboard. Players with the highest scores will have the opportunity to win weekly rewards, including retro 2600+ consoles, gift cards, and more.
In July of this year, Atari first announced its partnership with Base to release a blockchain version of its iconic video game Asteroids.
Like Asteroids, players need to connect their Coinbase, MetaMask, Rainbow, or WalletConnect wallets to play the game and mint Breakout NFTs at a price of 0.0015 ETH (about $3.6).
Base said that the mint proceeds will be distributed to the developers and artists of each game. (Decrypt)
Earlier, according to official news, Base announced that it will launch Onchain Summer II, inviting builders, creators, brands, and artists to participate in the creation. Starting on June 3 and ending in August, Base and its partners will offer more than 600 ETH in prizes, grants, and gas credits. Interested users can submit their projects for a chance to be featured at Onchain Summer.
Onchain Summer will kick off with a month-long online hackathon hosted by Base and its partners. Then in July and August, Coinbase will showcase the everyday experience of simple on-chain.
