Many AI cryptocurrencies have risen even more than Bitcoin over the past year. According to the latest data from CoinGecko, the sector’s total market capitalization has surged to $22.8 billion from $2.7 billion in April last year, with related tokens rising between 145% and 297% in the past 30 days.
Market watchers say cryptography and blockchain technology could help solve some of the AI industry's teething problems, such as privacy and the need for computing power. “As AI systems and blockchain networks continue to evolve, we will see more and more use cases bringing the two industries together,” said Markus Levin, co-founder of blockchain data storage company XYO Network.
Additionally, the CoinDesk Computing Index, which includes AI-related tokens, has grown more than 165% in the past 12 months, even surpassing Bitcoin’s 151% gain.
Trading volumes in AI cryptocurrencies have also risen significantly this year, reaching an all-time high of $3.8 billion at the end of February, according to data from Kaiko Research. (Reuters)
