Arbitrum DAO has removed a proposal seeking to fund the legal defense of the developers of Tornado Cash. The proposal seeks to distribute nearly $1.3 million worth of ARB tokens from community wallets to support mixer Tornado Cash developers Roman Storm and Alexey Pertsev. In addition, the budget can be used for public relations and advocacy efforts to promote privacy-preserving technologies.
Behind the proposal is anonymous representative DK, who submitted the proposal on March 7 calling for a "robust legal defense" for Tornado Cash developers. An Arbitrum spokesperson said the proposal had been removed at the request of its author.
Additionally, according to The Block, people familiar with the matter said Arbitrum community members abandoned the proposal out of concern that it would bring potential legal risks to the project. (Cointelegraph)
