Shanghai will severely punish financial crimes in key areas in 2023 and recover nearly 1.9 billion yuan in stolen goods

On the morning of January 25, the second session of the 16th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress held its third plenary session. Chen Yong, Chief Prosecutor of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate, delivered the "Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate Work Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"). The "Report" shows that in 2023, the Shanghai Procuratorate helped create a safe financial environment, severely cracked down on illegal financial activities, prosecuted 1,199 people for financial crimes such as fund-raising fraud and manipulation of the securities and futures markets, and recovered nearly 1.9 billion yuan in losses.
