Electric Capital, an encryption venture capital firm, released a developer report for the year ending 2023. Among them, as of June 1, 2023, there were 6,793 full-time developers and 21,300 monthly active open source developers, compared with November 2021. More before currency markets hit record highs. The number of developers decreased by 22% year-on-year from 2022, but increased by 92% year-on-year from 2020 and increased by 25% year-on-year from 2021. Developers who have recently left crypto are newcomers who have been in crypto for less than 12 months and are responsible for less than 20% of all code commits; Developers continue to develop, and they contribute more than 80% of the code commits. In the past year, new developers decreased by 7730, accounting for 48%; new developers increased by 44%, a total of 1650; mature developers increased by 2%. The report pointed out that new developers tend to dominate at the peak of the market, and the retention rate of developers in bear markets is low. In the past year, fewer and fewer new developers explored cryptocurrencies, down 50% from May last year. In addition, in the past year, the number of developers of Osmosis, Sui, Aptos, TON, Optimism and Aztec Protocol has increased significantly year-on-year. Osmosis grew 56% year-on-year, Sui grew 159% year-on-year, Aptos grew 90% year-on-year, TON grew 102% year-on-year, Optimism grew 27% year-on-year, and Aztec Protocol grew 267% year-on-year.
