Odaily Planet Daily News NEAR Protocol released the second quarter roadmap update, NEAR protocol development team Pagoda submitted 3 proposals to realize account expansion, including NEP on account namespace, NEP on wasm sub-module and contract code shared storage NEP.
The team has made important improvements to the main network, and the status reading performance has increased by 8 times. A background write feature is in the works, potentially reducing the cost of state writes by a factor of 3. Additionally, cold storage is fully live and drastically reduces the cost of running an archive node.
In terms of improving status synchronization, the nodes have been able to complete the synchronization of the main network status within 3 hours, and it is expected to deliver a full-featured version of the new status synchronization tool in the third quarter. The team also delivered finite wasm and its integration with nearcore to improve the security and stability of NEAR contract runtime.
There are two changes in the Experience section of the roadmap, one is that the changes required to implement account scaling are on hold, and the other is that the protocol team will work on solving the storage refund issue. At the core of the roadmap, the Q3 focus will shift to the second phase of sharding, which includes resharding the current mainnet state and removing the requirement that block producers have to keep track of all shards. It is expected to take more than a quarter to complete.
