Nintendo Stock in Focus Ahead of Holiday Season as Switch 2 Sales Slow

Nintendo investors are watching whether The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time can lift Switch 2 demand this holiday season. Shares fell more than 40% over the past year and Switch 2 sales plunged 41% year over year, according to BeInCrypto; operating profit dropped 16% to ¥73.9 billion, missing expectations. Nintendo kept its 16.5 million-console annual target after selling 6.49 million in the first six months, leaving another 10 million to sell before March 2027. The Zelda remake launched November 5; President Shuntaro Furukawa called its start “very strong,” while Citi sees potential to spur console purchases. Software sales rose 18.8% in the first half, but rising memory-chip costs pressure margins; the U.S. price rose to $499.99 in September.
