AI TRENDS | UK Growth Minister Dan Tomlinson: Britain Will Not Slow AI Development Despite U.S. Backlash

UK Growth Minister Dan Tomlinson said Britain would not slow its AI development despite a backlash against AI emerging in the United States during the midterm elections. According to Sina Finance, Tomlinson said in an interview that Britain should not assume it would replicate the polarized debate in the United States. Democratic candidates won major victories with campaign platforms that included tighter regulation and slower data center construction. Tomlinson said Britain could avoid a fierce debate over data centers and continue treating them as critical infrastructure. He added that the government had observed disorderly development in some parts of the United States and learned from it. He said Britain was taking a different approach, and its regulatory framework already included some of the oversight mechanisms sought by the victorious Democratic candidates.
