Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media on the evening of the 6th that Ukraine would continue striking Russian oil refineries in response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. According to Sina Finance, Zelenskyy said he had received reports that day from Ukraine’s defense and security forces about long-range strikes, and that Russian drones and missiles continued to target Ukrainian power plants, the electricity grid, heating systems, water facilities, and civilian logistics.
Zelenskyy said Russia had rejected de-escalation measures proposed by Ukraine’s partners and planned further attacks, adding that Ukraine had determined its response. He said Ukrainian long- and medium-range strikes, along with full pressure from its partners, would create momentum for “genuine negotiations.”
Russian presidential press secretary Peskov told media on the 3rd that Ukrainian forces continued to attack Russian energy infrastructure, while Russia continued “systematic strikes” on Ukrainian infrastructure to weaken Ukraine’s ability to attack Russia. Peskov also confirmed that trilateral talks involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on the Ukraine issue would be held in Abu Dhabi on the 10th and 11th.
