Michael Burry said he has no plans to buy Anthropic shares when it goes public, arguing that the company's valuation places its survival on optimistic expectations. According to Sina Finance, Burry raised concerns in a Wednesday Substack post about Anthropic's revised S-1 filing, including its commitment of $895.4 billion for computing capacity, chips and other infrastructure. The prospectus, submitted November 2, showed third-quarter revenue of $17 billion and indicated that computing costs would remain high and continue rising for a considerable period. Burry said even the company's most bullish investors expect revenue of only $100 billion next year, while its future spending commitments exceed that optimistic revenue target by about 12 times. He also criticized Anthropic's take-or-pay contracts, saying the company must pay for computing capacity even when it is unused or unnecessary, raising costs and weakening its competitiveness with other AI model developers.
