According to CNBC, Todd Gordon, founder of Inside Edge Capital, highlighted Lennar, SharkNinja and Amazon as consumer discretionary stocks he would consider adding to if the sector’s market rotation continues after the midterm elections. The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) rose 4.5% to $122.56, moving above its 21-, 50- and 200-day moving averages, while WTI crude fell from above $100 in late October to about $88 and the five-year breakeven inflation rate declined to 2.39%. Lennar’s fiscal third-quarter EPS was $1.23, below consensus, and its home sale gross margins were near 16% as average selling prices slipped. SharkNinja’s Q3 revenue increased 21% to nearly $2 billion, adjusted EBITDA rose 46% to a 23% margin, and management raised its full-year guidance. Amazon’s Q3 operating income climbed 61% to $28.1 billion, revenue grew 12% and AWS growth accelerated to 39%; its contracted backlog exceeded $500 billion. Gordon said he viewed the stock’s pullback amid concerns about its roughly $220 billion capital spending plan for 2026 as an opportunity to own its retail, advertising and cloud businesses.
