Dropbox plans to acquire cloud technology company Tigris Data for $350 million and is developing an AI infrastructure platform called DBX Agent Cloud. According to Odaily, the deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 and could become Dropbox’s largest acquisition to date.
The platform is initially expected to offer standalone object storage compatible with Amazon S3 tools and applications. Dropbox plans to add file system features later, allowing AI agents to manage files and maintain continuity across tasks and sessions.
Dropbox also plans to add AI features to its core products, including tools for processing files, choosing among models, and connecting to ChatGPT, Claude, and Muse. The company said it has no plans for acquisition-related layoffs; last month, it cut about 9% of its global workforce.
Tigris Data was founded by engineers who worked on Uber’s storage infrastructure and raised $25 million in a Series A round last year.
