Polygon’s community has published draft proposal PIP-93 to consolidate multisigs managed by the Protocol Council, Polygon PoS, and the AggLayer/zkEVM security committees into a unified security committee, with an 8-of-11 threshold on Ethereum and Polygon. According to Foresight News, the proposal remains in draft form and would establish a committee of 11 signers from 10 organizations, with Polygon Labs holding two seats and each other organization holding one.
The proposal would publish the member organizations but not individual signers’ names or addresses, citing reduced risks of social engineering and personal coercion. Polygon Labs’ operational multisig could submit routine upgrades and administrative changes with a 5-of-9 threshold; those changes would take effect after a 7-day timelock without collecting security committee signatures for each one. The security committee would retain the ability to veto transactions during the timelock, bypass it to execute changes immediately, and restore paused contracts. Polygon Labs’ operational multisig could pause contracts but could not bypass the timelock to execute upgrades or restore contracts.
