VeChain co-founder and CEO Sunny Lu says blockchain could provide the trust and accountability systems needed as AI agents become more widely used. According to Cointelegraph, Lu made the remarks during its Chain Reaction show on Wednesday, arguing that autonomous agents operating around the clock would need a new way to establish public trust. “The perfect solution is a blockchain,” he said. Lu discussed VeWorld.ai, an agent-building platform that uses VeChain’s blockchain, and described a system in which agents could have digital passports and reputations tracked alongside those of their creators. Smart contracts could also facilitate transactions between agents or between agents and people. VeChain has previously pursued blockchain adoption through supply-chain tracking, including food traceability projects. Lu also said agent-building tools could help people turn expertise into businesses or services, extending software-building opportunities beyond professional developers. He compared the prospect to mobile app stores, which enabled individual developers to distribute and monetize their work. People with specialist professional experience, local knowledge or hobbies could use agents to offer services, he said. Lu described experiments involving an educational agent for his daughter, an agent supporting his mother’s daily routine and recovery, and a virtual employee handling purchasing, inventory, sales and operations for an acquaintance’s shop in Milan. Separately, Animoca Brands chairman Yat Siu told Cointelegraph in an October interview that crypto traders could use AI agents around the clock, but warned that relying on providers users do not control could leave traders building strategies around those services.
