OpenAI developed an autonomous process to find, exploit and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and its AI system identified 948 flaws in the Linux kernel, CoinDesk reported. According to Foresight News, Linux underpins global IT infrastructure, including cryptocurrency and blockchain systems, although OpenAI did not mention cryptocurrency in its work.
Most blockchain infrastructure runs on Linux. About two-thirds of Ethereum nodes, the computers that maintain the network, use Linux, according to ethernodes.org.
Polygon Labs Chief Technology Officer Mudit Gupta said cryptocurrency's decentralized nature makes it inherently resilient to these attacks. He said infrastructure diversity and redundancy make crypto more resistant to such vulnerabilities than traditional software. Security researcher @chain_linkd also said the risk of attacks makes cryptocurrency stronger.
