Bhutan’s Gelephu Central Bank Authorized to Invest in Crypto Assets

According to ChainCatcher citing BBX, a royal decree authorizes the financial regulator in Bhutan’s Gelephu special administrative region to exercise central bank powers, including monetary policy and reserve management, and to invest in digital assets and cryptocurrencies. The authorization does not require the bank to invest in any specific cryptocurrency. Before making allocations, it must establish rules for risk controls, custody, liquidity management, and auditing.
