Two-Thirds of Democratic Voters Want House to Block Trump Agenda

A Politico poll found that two-thirds of Democratic voters want the House to block U.S. President Donald Trump’s agenda rather than compromise with him. According to ChainCatcher, after Democrats’ major electoral gains, Trump said he was willing to work with them in the next congressional term, while Democratic leaders signaled they would not readily let his administration’s actions over the past year pass without scrutiny. The poll also found that 65% of Democratic midterm voters want the House to prioritize opposing Trump’s agenda, even if that means sacrificing opportunities to advance legislation. Starting next January, Democrats will face pressure to enact their policies while balancing efforts to address the cost of living against a more aggressive oversight agenda.
