According to Jin10, Pepperstone research head Chris Weston said Asian gold buying is driving growth in futures trading volume, possibly for several reasons. He said a weaker U.S. dollar index and significant declines in nominal and real U.S. Treasury yields have supported gold prices. Weston said buyers may also be seeking a hedge against further uncertainty under the Trump administration. He speculated that a Democratic “sweep”—control of the White House and both chambers of Congress—could lead the U.S. government to take a more confrontational stance, particularly in international affairs.
