CVS Health announced plans to split into two companies, separating its retail pharmacy business from its insurance and pharmacy benefit management operations. According to Sina Finance, the split is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2028, and both companies will be independently listed, with existing CVS shareholders holding shares in each. A decade ago, CVS brought Aetna, its namesake pharmacy business, Caremark and other assets together in an acquisition valued at nearly $70 billion. One of the new companies will retain the CVS Health name and continue to be led by current CEO David Joyner.
