CNBC reported that Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has a 60% chance of defeating Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa on Tuesday, according to Kalshi traders, while Hinojosa’s odds rose to 40% on Monday from 8% in mid-July. On Polymarket, her odds climbed to 39% on Monday from as low as 5% in late July. The gains came in recent weeks as polls showed the race tightening. Hinojosa has criticized Abbott’s past support for data center development. In November 2025, Abbott touted Google’s $40 billion investment, which included three new data centers in Texas. In August, he ordered an audit of data centers seeking to connect to the state’s grid, then halted approvals for data center-related permits in September. Hinojosa is campaigning for an immediate moratorium until the legislature establishes industry guardrails. More than 7.7 million Texans had cast ballots by the close of in-person early voting on Friday.
