U.S. Report Says Iran-Linked Attacks Damaged 26 U.S. Military Sites in the Middle East

According to Jin10, a U.S. analysis report released on October 31 said that, by the end of August, attacks claimed by Iran or Iran-backed militia groups had damaged or destroyed 26 U.S. military bases and facilities housing U.S. military equipment in the Middle East. From April 1 to June 30 alone, Iranian attacks damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and other facilities at U.S. bases. The report said Iran initially focused on aircraft hangars and early-warning systems used to detect incoming missiles and drones, then expanded its targets, causing billions of dollars in equipment losses. The ongoing attacks have changed U.S. deployments in the Middle East; two officials said the U.S. military had withdrawn many assets from the Persian Gulf, while the losses have raised questions about its regional defense capabilities.
