San Francisco startup Dream has emerged from stealth and announced a $17 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from SV Angel, XYZ and Zigg Capital. According to ChainCatcher, Dream was co-founded by Andy Elder and Arjun Mathur, who each worked at Palantir, with Elder spending about a decade there. The company is developing an “architectural world model” trained on data covering more than 100 million square feet of permitted U.S. buildings. Dream says the model can understand spatial relationships between building components, such as how HVAC ducts pass through walls, and generate drawings precise enough for contractors to build from directly. Its initial focus is commercial projects, including retail storefronts, offices and data centers.
