European shares extended their losses as auto stocks fell after Volkswagen cut its profit outlook, dragging the broader market lower. According to Sina Finance, the Stoxx Europe 600 closed down 1%, fell 0.6% for the week, and posted a third straight weekly decline.
Volkswagen fell 5.6% after it lowered its operating profit margin outlook following a sharp contraction in its market. Nestle dropped 2.6% after Russia took over local assets of Nestle and French supermarket chain Auchan. Airtel Africa Plc's London-listed shares tumbled 11% as the company considers reducing the size of the fundraising for an Airtel Money initial public offering below the amount it had previously sought.
