According to RTHK, HKET and HKEX, Asian index-futures night sessions were mixed after the U.S. Federal Reserve raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points, with the dot plot pointing to one more increase this year; former Fed chair Kevin Warsh said inflation remained too high, making the hike a clear and prudent decision. Wall Street fell for a third session, Treasury yields rose and the dollar index climbed back above 100.
Nikkei 225 index futures firmed overnight on the Osaka Exchange. The December 2026 contract settled its night session at 64,250, up 410 points, trading between a low of 63,470 and a high of 64,720 on volume of 11,278 lots.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index futures eased in the after-hours session, with the September contract closing 287 points lower at 24,401. The China Enterprises-linked index reading fell 0.55% to 5,734. In U.S. ADR trading, HSBC ADRs fell about 1.7% to an HK$158.21 equivalent, Tencent ADRs dropped 1.42% to HK$427.23, Meituan ADRs slipped 1.16% to HK$73.58 and Alibaba's U.S. shares eased 0.95% to HK$105.19.
Taiwan's TAIEX futures advanced in the night session. The October 2026 contract closed at 46,382, up 322 points or 0.70%, opening at 46,153 and moving between 46,056 and 46,626 on volume of 32,283 lots.
