STOCKS | Oil and Rate Shock Adds $1,760 to U.S. Household Costs

U.S. consumers are facing a double hit from rising oil prices and higher Treasury yields as the conflict between the United States and Iran escalates. According to Sina Finance, Moody's Analytics estimated that each household had incurred about $1,760 in additional costs since the conflict began, as of September 11. More than half of that amount, or $930, came from higher energy expenses, while $425 was tied to higher interest rates and $405 to expanded military spending. Moody's said total extra U.S. consumer energy spending since the outbreak of the war has exceeded $121 billion.
