Databricks said it plans to invest more than $1 billion in the Asia-Pacific region over the next three years. According to Sina Finance, the company also plans to invest more than $350 million in Singapore over the same period and double its local workforce there to more than 500.
Simon Davies, who leads Databricks' Asia-Pacific and Japan business, said on Wednesday that the company's Asia-Pacific business more than doubled in the second quarter and that the region is now its fastest-growing market. He added that Databricks currently has 1,500 employees in Asia-Pacific and is expanding hiring across the region.
Databricks said its annualized revenue reached $7 billion in August, up from $5.4 billion in February. The company also recently launched Unity Gateway, which lets enterprises access multiple AI models and track AI-related spending, and Genie One, an AI assistant that can answer employee questions and automate tasks.
