Global equities fell again on Tuesday, extending the previous session's selloff. According to Sina Finance, U.S. stocks declined, oil prices stayed elevated, and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield climbed to near a 19-year high, continuing to weigh on risk appetite.
As of the report, Dow futures fell 0.27%, S&P 500 futures lost 0.15%, and Nasdaq futures slipped 0.07%. The MSCI global stock index fell 0.28% on Tuesday after dropping 0.65% in the prior session, while Europe's Stoxx 600 fell 0.2% and the MSCI Asia equity benchmark declined for a fourth straight day.
Brent crude rose toward $107 a barrel, with prices nearing $110 and up 18% since September. According to Sina Finance, the move came as Houthi forces aligned with Iran launched another attack on Saudi Arabia and continued to consolidate positions along Yemen's western Red Sea coast.
The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose 2 basis points to 5.01%, after earlier touching its highest level since 2007. According to Sina Finance, investors are also digesting higher rate expectations, heavy bond issuance, resilient economic growth, and concerns about the long-term U.S. fiscal outlook.
Gold fell further below $4,300, while bitcoin weakened as optimism faded over recent progress on U.S. crypto legislation. Copper futures on the London Metal Exchange traded at $14,030 per ton after the exchange saw its largest copper delivery in nearly four weeks on Monday.
