Samsung Backs Dutch AI Chipmaker Euclyd in $231 Million Funding Round

According to CNBC, Samsung backed Dutch AI chipmaker Euclyd in a $231 million funding round as investment in alternatives to Nvidia's GPUs accelerates. Euclyd CEO Bernardo Kastrup said the company's 200-million-euro Series A was co-led by Somerset Capital Partners, the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT, and Innovation Industries, alongside Samsung. Founded in 2024, Euclyd is developing an AI chip system for inference with a different architecture from GPUs, including processor and memory architecture. Kastrup said the company aims to reduce the energy needs and costs of AI data center infrastructure and is targeting two revenue streams: hardware and physical rack systems for enterprise customers seeking secure self-hosted AI inference, and intellectual property sales to companies building their own chips. He said Samsung can contribute engineering, supply-chain and memory expertise in addition to capital. Euclyd aims to begin rolling out its physical chip systems in 2028 and to serve thousands of enterprise customers by 2030.
