U.S. telecom operator Verizon said on September 14 that Amazon Web Services, Nvidia, Intel and six other companies have joined its 6G Innovation Forum, expanding the membership base, according to Jiemian News. Verizon also said it has completed two field tests of integrated sensing and communication based on 5G Advanced, including using wireless signals to detect crowd density in real time and maintaining high-speed mobile communications while tracking drones and ground vehicles. The company also showcased a prototype AI sports assistant built on edge networks, Meta AI glasses and a small language model that can provide real-time scores and player data. Verizon said the forum will continue testing 6G applications including ISAC, digital twins, robotics, AI and smart wearables, and views the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as an important test scenario before commercial 6G deployment.
