According to people familiar with the matter, Anthropic signed a six-year, $13.7 billion compute procurement agreement with Rum Group. Rum Group originated in social media and has long had ties to the Trump administration.
The deal comes as demand for Claude Code and Cowork surges, and it is the latest in a series of large cloud-computing contracts Anthropic has signed over the past year with major cloud providers such as Google, as well as technology companies including SpaceX and smaller emerging cloud firms such as Nscale. Together, those agreements can provide at least 14.8 gigawatts of compute, with total investment over the next decade potentially reaching as much as $517 billion. The transaction with Rum Group will further increase compute capacity on top of that.
