South Korea's digital asset institutionalization efforts are again focusing on legislation and infrastructure development, according to Democratic Party lawmaker Min Byung-deok. According to Odaily, he said the Digital Asset Basic Law is expected to be drafted this year, with a public hearing planned for this month and formal bill review set to begin in November after the National Assembly's audit period ends.
Min said the timetable could slip to the first half of next year because the National Assembly still has audit and budget review procedures to complete. The Financial Services Commission has also released a phased roadmap for security token offerings, while financial institutions are testing tokenization systems and working on global infrastructure cooperation.
