ECB Economist Says Further Rate Hikes May Be Needed at Upcoming Meetings

According to Jin10, Marshall Alexandrovich, European economist at Saltmarsh Economics, said the European Central Bank's second rate hike this year was in line with expectations and signaled that further policy tightening may still be needed at upcoming meetings. He added that the ECB's new quarterly forecasts showed core inflation at 2.3% in 2028, above the 2.2% forecast in June, which means the ECB needs to raise rates further to bring inflation down to its 2% target over the medium term.
