Beijing has issued its 15th Five-Year high-end industry development plan, which calls for faster growth in commercial spaceflight, breakthroughs in reusable rockets and high-thrust engines, stronger mass-production and supporting capacity for satellites and key components, and participation in national large-scale constellation projects, according to Jiemian News. The plan also calls for improved satellite application services, better use of satellite data, development of a satellite IoT ecosystem, and innovation in Beidou integration and space-time applications. It further urges development of new-energy aircraft, advances in airspace equipment and aerospace vehicles, and stronger manufacturing of key aviation parts, materials support and maintenance services.
Separately, China Securities reported that in the first half of 2026, China recorded 44 space launches, a new high, while commercial rockets completed nine launches, both up from a year earlier. It said Long March 10B, Long March 12B and Lijian-2 all made successful maiden flights, and that Long March 10B completed a controlled first-stage recovery, described as China's first successful controlled rocket recovery and the world's first net-based rocket recovery. China Securities said the commercialization and reuse of new rockets could ease the cost and launch-capacity bottlenecks facing low-Earth-orbit satellite constellations.
