Crypto custody firm Copper CEO Amar Kuchinad has left the company as negotiations to sell the business enter their fourth month. According to ChainCatcher, Kuchinad joined Copper in October 2024 after founder and CEO Dmitry Tokarev stepped down.
Kuchinad previously worked at Goldman Sachs and served as an adviser at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Copper has been seeking a buyer since May and hired Cantor Fitzgerald to help with the sale, initially asking for $500 million.
CoinDesk reported last month that Copper had received bids of about $200 million, while the company was once valued at more than $2 billion. Copper also recently added two executives: Elin Cherry as chief compliance officer and Sean Bowen as chief operating officer. Copper and Kuchinad had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
