According to Axios, a new Hart Research/TelevisaUnivision poll shared exclusively with Axios shows Democrats have gained sharply with Latino voters in 17 competitive House districts since 2024, opening a 58%-35% lead on the generic congressional ballot. The 23-point margin is wider than the 11-point edge Kamala Harris held over Donald Trump in the same sample's self-reported 2024 vote, while among Spanish-language media consumers Democrats lead the 2026 generic ballot by 14 points versus a 1-point Trump edge in their self-reported 2024 vote.
The survey found Latino voters in three Texas districts moved from a 44-44 split in the 2024 presidential race to a 56-36 Democratic advantage, and Latino voters in two Florida swing districts shifted from Trump +1 to Democrat +13. It also found 11% of Latino voters who said they backed Trump in 2024 now support Democratic congressional candidates. Overall, 63% of respondents disapprove of Trump's job performance, 65% disapprove of his handling of prices and the cost of living, and 62% disapprove of his administration's immigration enforcement and deportations. ICE received a 64% unfavorable rating, including 65% among Latino independents. The poll surveyed 1,500 Latino registered voters in 17 battleground congressional districts from Aug. 6-17, 2026, and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
