A Tesla dealership in Corte Madera, California, caught fire early Monday, damaging four vehicles. According to Sina Finance, Marin County fire investigators said the blaze did not appear to be accidental and are investigating it as a suspected arson case.
Fire crews contained the flames before they reached the vehicles' main battery packs, and no injuries were reported. Brian Peterson, chief of the Central Marin Fire Department, said the first crews on scene found one vehicle burning in the front and the fire spreading to three nearby cars in the rear parking lot.
Neighbor Obduleo Ortintes said he heard a loud boom before seeing flames. Police radio communications showed dispatchers received calls from two people who said a Tesla had exploded and caught fire at the dealership.
At least two Teslas were heavily damaged, including one that was almost completely burned. Investigators have not said what caused the fire or confirmed whether the vehicles were intentionally set on fire.
