STOCKS | U.S. Stock Futures Slip As Oil Hits Six-Week High On U.S.-Iran Escalation

U.S. stock futures were mixed on Monday, with Dow Jones futures down 308 points, or about 0.6%, S&P 500 futures off 0.2%, and Nasdaq 100 futures up 0.1%, according to ETNet. Oil prices climbed to a six-week high late Monday after the escalation in U.S.-Iran attacks. Brent crude rose 1.1% to $97.31 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate gained 1.3% to $92.66. U.S. 10-year Treasury yields last week rose to their highest level since November 2023, while 2-year yields reached a January 2025 high. Yardeni Research President Ed Yardeni said a series of central bank meetings in the coming weeks will test market resilience. He said rising global bond yields raise the question of whether they reflect stronger-than-expected growth, higher-than-expected inflation, or an impending fiscal debt crisis. The Federal Reserve is scheduled to hold its monetary policy meeting on September 15-16.
