The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said it held a news conference on September 7 with the latest details on an accident involving an Amazon Boeing 767-300 cargo plane at Miami International Airport. According to Sina Finance, the flight departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, carried two crew members, ran off the runway on landing, struck navigation aids and equipment, hit a van carrying seven people, then broke through an outer fence, struck a moving vehicle, and ended up in a grassy area after traveling about 1,300 feet.
Investigators have begun collecting information, while cleanup and recovery work continues. According to Sina Finance, the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder have been recovered and will be sent to the NTSB headquarters that night for data extraction and analysis.
A 32-member investigation team will begin work on September 8 and gather information. According to Sina Finance, one group will focus on operational and human factors issues, another will review Federal Aviation Administration oversight of the operator, and separate teams will examine air traffic services, radar data, and communications between controllers and pilots.
