Iran, Oman Make Major Progress on Hormuz Strait Safe Maritime Corridor Talks

Iran and Oman have made substantial progress in talks to define a safe maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, and negotiations have entered their final stage, according to Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei. Jiemian News reported that Baghaei said some third-party forces had tried to obstruct the talks, which had faced repeated setbacks. On August 25, Iran and Oman issued a joint statement saying they planned to establish a mutually agreed safe maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz.
