Jaguar Land Rover China Says No Local Restructuring Plan Amid Global Layoff Reports

Jaguar Land Rover China said it has no corresponding restructuring plan in the mainland market and that its China operations, sales, after-sales service and dealer network are all running normally, according to ETNet. The response came after reports that the British automaker plans to cut 4,000 jobs over the next two years to cope with soaring costs, sharply weaker sales and pressure from U.S. tariffs. Jaguar Land Rover told Bloomberg it will launch a voluntary departure programme aimed at saving about 1.7 billion pounds over the next two years and lowering its break-even sales target to 300,000 vehicles. The company did not disclose the number of jobs it plans to eliminate. Jaguar Land Rover has about 33,000 employees in the UK and is controlled by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. In its latest quarter, revenue fell nearly 10% and pre-tax profit dropped 69% to 109 million pounds.
