XDOF is in late-stage talks for a Series B financing round that could value the robotics data startup at about $1.2 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. According to ChainCatcher, 8VC is leading the round, though the final terms have not been set and could still change. The company was founded in 2024 by University of California, Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu, who is CEO, and Fred Shentu, who is CTO. XDOF collects real-world teleoperation data to train general-purpose robots. XDOF previously raised $70 million in Series A funding from investors including Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux, and Spark Capital. The company had not planned to raise again so soon, but people familiar with the matter said rapid business growth and annualized revenue approaching $50 million drew interest from multiple venture firms. The exact size of the new round was not disclosed, and it was not confirmed whether the reported $1.2 billion valuation includes the new capital.
