Virtuoso Says Fall Luxury Travel Bookings Jump 59% as Wealthy Shift Holidays to September and October

According to CNBC, Virtuoso said fall bookings for luxury travel and experiences are up 59% from last year, while sales rose 69%, as wealthy travelers move holidays from summer to September and October to avoid crowds. September sales are up 77%, October sales are up 54% and November sales are up 71%, and Virtuoso vice president Misty Belles said September is overtaking August as a peak month. The global luxury travel network said Paris is the top destination for wealthy Americans this fall, followed by the Amalfi Coast, the French Riviera, Tuscany and New York. London, Lake Como, Maui and Rome are also among the most popular destinations. Virtuoso said average daily hotel rates are up 131% in the Greek Isles, 78% in Puglia and 179% in the French Riviera, while bookings at hotels charging $1,500 or more per night are up 37% from last year and luxury international hotels now average $1,653 a night, up from $985 in 2019.
