U.S. Prime-Age Labor Force Participation Has Not Rebounded for Several Months

According to Jin10, analyst Ben Casselman said U.S. August nonfarm payroll data showed the prime-age labor force participation rate, the share of people aged 25 to 54 who are employed or actively looking for work, jumped to a 20-year high last year before falling sharply in June. He said the June decline initially looked like an isolated event, but there was no rebound in July or August, suggesting the drop may be a real trend, and that the rate remains relatively high above pre-pandemic levels but is no longer as strong as before.
